2004-05 / cedar, glass, rammed earth, concrete

The Rammed Earth House was a project of three successive years of the the third year design build studio at the Virginia Tech school of Architecture. Located in Giles County, Virginia, this home was for a farmer and horse trainer whose family home had been lost in a fire. My team and I were responsible for the design and construction of two-story vitrines of glass and timber that infilled the gaps in the rammed earth walls. In addition, we did site work, laid a radiant floor heating system, worked on interior finishes, and documented the process extensively.
